Submission Guidelines
Submissions are now open for the 2027 Uranus Issue of IJHSB.
IJHSB normally operates a rolling submission system. High-school and undergraduate students are welcome to submit manuscripts within the scope of the journal.
To be eligible, the first author must be a high-school student or an undergraduate student. All manuscripts must be written in English and follow the IJHSB formatting requirements and manuscript template.
All submissions first undergo an initial editorial and eligibility screening to assess basic requirements, including author eligibility, journal scope, formatting, completeness, originality, and overall suitability for further consideration.
Authors typically receive the outcome of this initial assessment within one to two weeks.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening will be invited to proceed with the full editorial and peer-review process.
IJHSB does not accept manuscripts that have already been published or are currently submitted to or under consideration by another journal.

Submission Fee
There is no charge for the initial eligibility screening.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening and are invited to proceed will be subject to a one-time submission fee of €50 or US$60 per manuscript.
The submission fee supports the administrative processing and manuscript handling associated with the editorial and peer-review process.
The submission fee is non-refundable, including if:
- the manuscript is subsequently rejected;
- the authors withdraw the manuscript;
- the authors decide not to complete requested revisions; or
- the manuscript does not ultimately proceed to publication.
Authors are not charged an additional submission fee for revisions requested as part of the same submission and review process.
Payment of the submission fee does not guarantee acceptance or publication and does not influence editorial decisions.
There is no additional publication charge following acceptance for manuscripts with up to five authors.
All articles published by IJHSB are open access, meaning they are freely available to read online.
Fee Waivers: Authors who are unable to pay the submission fee due to financial circumstances may request a full or partial fee waiver. Waiver requests are considered separately from the editorial process and do not influence manuscript evaluation or publication decisions.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts that proceed beyond the initial screening go through a rigorous, multi-stage peer-review and revision process designed both to maintain academic standards and to provide constructive feedback to student authors.
The process generally includes:
- Initial Screening: The editorial team checks the manuscript for basic requirements, including scope, formatting, originality, completeness, and overall suitability.
- Expert Review: Qualified scientific reviewers evaluate the manuscript in detail. Our reviewers are scientists with PhDs who provide in-depth feedback on areas such as the scientific rationale, methodology, interpretation of results, conclusions, limitations, and scientific communication.
- Advisory Board Review: A member of the IJHSB Scientist Advisory Board, consisting of experienced researchers, provides an additional evaluation and helps ensure that the manuscript meets the journal’s academic and scientific standards.
Following evaluation, manuscripts may receive one of several editorial decisions:
- Accept
- Minor revisions
- Major revisions
- Reject
Authors receive detailed and, where applicable, annotated feedback and are expected to revise their manuscripts carefully in response to editorial and reviewer comments.
A request for revision does not guarantee eventual acceptance. Revised manuscripts may undergo further editorial assessment, peer review, and additional rounds of revision before a final publication decision is reached.
Review Timeline and Author Commitment
Authors should be aware that publication in IJHSB involves a substantial and iterative review process.
Although authors typically receive the outcome of the initial editorial assessment within one to two weeks, the complete editorial, peer-review, revision, and publication process generally takes approximately 3–6 months. The exact duration depends on the manuscript, the extent of revisions required, reviewer availability, and how quickly authors respond to requested changes.
The process generally involves at least five rounds of editorial assessment, peer review, revision, and re-evaluation before a manuscript reaches its final publication stage.
Authors should therefore submit only if they are prepared to remain actively engaged throughout the full review and revision process, respond carefully to editorial and reviewer feedback, and complete the requested revisions.
This extensive process not only helps IJHSB maintain its academic standards but also gives student authors meaningful experience with scientific peer review, revision, and research communication.
